So the Apple iPad 3 release date event is set for March 7th, 2012.  This does not mean that the iPad 3 will come out that day but it will likely be the following week or two weeks after the announcement.  With the date being set for the big Apple event most are wondering where they can sell their iPad 2 to get the most money.  Here are a few options:

For anyone looking to sell an iPad 2 before March 7th, 2012 it would be very smart to do so sooner rather than later.  The demand for the iPad 2 will tank and there will be way too much supply when the iPad 3 is released.  Selling the iPad 2 one month before the release of the iPad 3 would have been ideal but getting rid of it now would not hurt a wallet either.

For the last two months I have been doing extensive research on the newest iPhone that will (I HOPE!) put the iPhone 4s to shame.  I am one of those iPhone 3GS users whose two year contract was up last year but I didn’t like the fact that the iPhone 4s looked and did most things similar to the iPhone 4.  I know, I know, that crazy Siri thing is going to revolutionize the world, blah, blah, blah.  I do not use my iPhone for scheduling or carrying on a conversation so this did not attract me at all.  I was hoping to see a smaller iPad looking iPhone 5 last summer/fall but that is not what we got.

So, here I am, several months later and I am still carrying around my iPhone 3GS.  The phone has been great and I have no complaints but I feel so 1998 with my old iPhone.  I have been adamant that I would not break down and get the iPhone 4S because I would have to extend my contract TWO more years; I would then be left in the dust when the newest model came out.  Now we are getting rumors that the latest iPhone will have a 4 inch screen that is comparable to the Droid Razr and other Android smartphones.  I am not sure how I feel about this but I would think that Apple is going to shake things up a bit.

I would also imagine that new videos will start rolling out very soon as many major sources have reported that the iPhone 5 will be released sometime this summer.  I have my fingers crossed that we will get to see an iPad 3 looking version of the iPhone.  I know, the iPad 3 has yet to be released but most are expecting a late March 2012 conference that will release the newest Apple product.  Some are claiming that there will be several sizes for the newest iPad.  This will make it easier for Apple to make it even smaller and produce an iPhone 5 that has a four inch screen.

I am not a huge gamer with my iPhone although I do play some Angry Birds and GolfBattle3D once every six months.  With this being the case graphics are not that important to me.  I would like to see a stronger resolution than my 3GS but that won’t take much.  I would also like to see a better camera as mine is basically worthless.  I know the iPhone 4 and 4S have a much better camera but I take about one picture every 2 months so it’s probably not worth the upgrade.

Over the last few weeks I have been considering an Android device as I have friends with the Droid, Droid X and the Droid 3.  I am not against any of the Android models but I am accustomed to the IOS interface.  I am sure it would take me all of 12 minutes to get to know the Android Operating System but I am still holding out.  As stated earlier, I am not a huge app user so the games and other popular apps aren’t that important to me.  In fact, the most used apps on my iPhone happen to be the Google Search app, the Zillow app and the TD Ameritrade app.  As you can tell, none of these apps really require a lot of intense graphics.

I am an avid reader of Mashable, BGR and pretty much any other major tech blog on the Internet.  I have seen many predictions and rumors about the newest iPhone but I am taking them with a grain of salt.  Last year I was very excited to get my hands on the iPhone 5 model and I was let down.  I know millions of iPhone 4s model phones have sold but they have not sold me.  If the newest model of the iPhone does not have drastic changes then I will jump on the Android bandwagon.

For those wondering, I am also one of those AT&T users that switched solely for the iPhone before Sprint or Verizon had the Apple phone.  This makes my predicament even worse because I made my commitment to a provider that I really didn’t like at the time.  Back in college I used SunCom which was in between AT&T Wireless and AT&T Wireless.  Yes, that is correct, it went from AT&T Wireless to SunCom and then back to AT&T Wireless.  I was not a fan of the service back then and I am not a fan now.  I think the Verizon network would be much better but am I willing to make the jump back?  I guess I will make that decision when we find out more about the iPhone 5.

Microsoft has acquired Skype for $8.5 billion. Skype is well know for the internet calling features now popular in many countries around the world. Microsoft announced in May that the two companies were working on an agreement.

Skype CEO Tony Bates stated, ““By bringing together the best of Microsoft and the best of Skype, we are committed to empowering consumers and businesses around the globe to connect in new ways.”

Skype had originally been bought by E-Bay back in 2005 for $2.6 billion. Two years after selling off most of the company to private equity owners in 2009, Microsoft started working on a deal to acquire the company.
