iConfused – iPad Sales Hit 1 Million So Why Do I Not Have One?

by Aaron

The jury is in for the iPad. It is a success. With 1 million units sold in the first month, the iPad is doing nothing short of spectacular. Though not designed as a business tool, the iPad has enough entertainment value to keep you satisfied. You can use applications previously only available on the iPhone, and new apps are coming out every week. These applications range from word processors to online games.

A few questions that were being thrown around before the iPad release where how much will it cost, how useful would it be, and should I get one? The first two questions have been answered and for at least 1 million people, the third question has been answered as well. I still have a question, though. Why don’t I have one?

With the iPad being such a great platform for so many different applications, I should have one in my possession. For some reason, I can’t seem to bring myself to buy one. Maybe it’s because I had a first-generation iPhone, and really wanted the second generation iPhone but couldn’t justify buying one. It is possible that the bugs or flaws people find in this first-generation iPad will be worked out by next year’s model. And you can bet there will be a new model next year. Apple’s business plan works on an annual schedule of releasing a new or upgraded product. The iPad 2.0 may include a few things like a camera, USB dock, and blender attachments. Except for the silly one, these first two would definitely be the final nail in the coffin for me.

I may end up going out to get one, eventually. I’m sure I’ll have an extra $500 around and decided that iPad really would be the smartest purchase. But until I get to that point, I’ll just have to settle with going into an Apple store and playing with one for six hours.
