Many rumors of the Google tablet have been floating around recently. But, it seems there are some pictures to make the myth a reality. If the stories are true, there may be a Google pad to compete with the recently unveiled Apple iPad. So the questions are, what will the Google Tablet PC do, what operating system will it run, and can it compete with the Apple iPad?
As of right now, the Google Tablet PC will probably run the chrome operating system. if you’ve not been following the news about the Chrome OS, it is basically a web browser that can run programs and upload data to a cloud. This would be perfect for an “on the go” tablet PC. There’s also the possibility of having a multi-task feature, which the iPad does not have.
Can it compete with the Apple iPad? Sure. Anything can compete with an Apple product, if done correctly. Apple is well known for its products being sturdy, solid, and well working pieces of tech. There’s recently been an article from Gizmodo about people being upset at the lack of tinkering allowed with Apple products. But, they complain when the tech they can tinker with, crashes or malfunctions. With that being said, just because Apple has a well working product, it doesn’t mean another company shouldn’t try and compete with them. Google is in a prime position especially with the tablet market. “On the go” smart gear is the future and good competition always spurs innovation.
Of course a lot of this is speculation, take everything you read with a grain of salt. If you agree/disagree or want to add something, please leave a comment. We would love to hear from you. What are you’re thoughts and ideas about Google going up against Apple over the tablet PC market?

There have been many complaints about the first edition of the iPad, so Google has a very good chance.
For example, Multitasking, Flash support, USB ports. If Google can make something that more resembles a laptop than an iPhone, they will be able to compete in the market.
I agree with you RE. I think Google may very well be on a good track. I would also keep an eye on the stocks. There should be a big jump for investors if Google creates a tablet with those features.
Like RE said, Flash, USB ports, and also i think a webcam would be a cheap feature to throw in for conferencing. A feature I’m surprised wasn’t included in the ipad, considering apples ichat features.
